Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8

The devil wants to destroy you, Christian. He’s real and he’s out to get you because you belong to Jesus. You’re a lamb in the flock of the Chief Shepherd, so Satan prowls the perimeter like a lion, looking for any lamb that strays away from the fold. He’ll take any opportunity you give. So, you must pay attention and protect your capacity to discern the enemy’s schemes. Know the truth of God’s Word to reject the devil’s lies; “watch and pray so you do not fall into temptation” (Mark 14:38); stay close to the People of God and submit yourself to the “shepherds of God’s flock” whom he has charged with your care. And above all, do not fear. Satan “roars” to scatter the flock, but if you resist Satan, “he will flee” (James 4:7). He is nothing compared to the power of Christ who you claim. So “stand firm in your faith” and as Peter promises, God “will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast” (1 Peter 5:9-10).

Father, lead me not into temptation, but deliver me from the evil one. Help me connect with the People of God so I am not vulnerable to his attacks. Teach me your Word, and send the Spirit of Truth to guide me into all truth so I may discern and reject the Slanderer’s lies. Above all, Father, keep me vigilant and always sober, so I may not sin against you.
