by Josh Vahle, for Ann
40:11 He will tend His flock like A Shepherd;
He will gather the lambs in His Arms;
He will carry them in His Bosom,
and gently lead those that are with young.
12 Who has measured the waters in The Hollow of His Hand
and marked off the heavens with A Span Between His Thumb and Pinky Finger,
enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure
and weighed the mountains in scales
and the hills in a balance?
13 Who has measured the Spirit of The LORD,
or what man shows him His counsel?
14 Whom did He consult,
and who made Him understand?
Who taught Him the path of justice,
and taught Him knowledge,
and showed Him the way of understanding?
15 Behold, the nations are like a drop from a bucket,
and are accounted as the dust on the scales;
behold, He takes up the coastlands like fine dust.
– Isaiah 40:11-15
41:10 fear not, for I am with you;
be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My Righteous Right Hand.
– Isaiah 41:10
27 My sheep hear My Voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of My Hand.29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of The Father’s Hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”
– John 10:27-30
The same Hand that upholds the whole universe, every drop of water, every chunk of granite, every star and galaxy, that Hand, holds each of God’s beloved children who belong to Him because of Jesus. This is The Eternal Life Jesus gives to each of us (John 17:3). To be known by God and experience His Friendship and Gentle Care upholding us with His Righteous Right Hand. What a gift. What a God.
