Number Your Days, June 13, 2017

by Chuck Hetzler

“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”  Psalm 90:12

Pastor Jonathan Edwards would remind his parishioners to think about death. That doesn’t sound like an uplifting thought, but it is a wise one. When we contemplate our final day on this earth, we’re filled with musings of the purpose and perspective of our life. We’re more likely to spend our moments loving God and others and less time fretting over passing problems or frittering away our precious opportunities for good.

Dear God, Help me to be mindful always of the brevity of life and live accordingly. Amen.
