“So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 10:32–33
What does it mean to “acknowledge” a friend? To tell others you know them? To share stories about them and the things you’ve done with them? To share with others how much you enjoy spending time with them? To talk to your friend if they are in the same room? What does it mean to “deny” a “friend”? To ignore them? To refuse to acknowledge their presence? To not give them credit for the things they’ve done for you? To not say thank you? To act like you don’t know them?
Jesus, please forgive me for not acknowledging you more in my life. You are my friend. Thank You for still choosing to be my Friend even when I’m not being a good friend to You…especially when I’m not being a good friend to You…when I deserve the exact opposite. Thank You for being gracious and patient to me like you were with Peter when he denied 3 times that he knew You. I am more like Peter than I want to admit. Please change my heart to be more filled with love and respect for You like You did for Peter. I love You Jesus. Amen.
